Therapy Services

In addition to my roles as a researcher and an educator, I have a small private practice where I work with individuals, couples, and families to help them navigate life’s challenges with clarity, connection, and resilience. I am licensed in the states of California, New York, and Florida and provide telehealth sessions exclusively, with the exception of occasional in-person workshops.

My Approach

I provide compassionate, evidence-based therapy tailored to your unique needs. My work is grounded in research-backed approaches that have been shown to create meaningful and lasting change. I specialize in working with couples, families, trauma, anxiety, and serious mental illness (SMI) such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

I have extensive training and experience in:

  • Couple and Family Interventions
    • Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 3 Training) – Strengthening relationships, improving communication, and helping couples resolve conflict.
    • Discernment Counseling – Helping individuals and couples gain clarity about whether to stay in or leave their relationship.
    • Behavioral Family Therapy for Serious Mental Illness (SMI) – Supporting families affected by schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other psychotic disorders.
    • Brief Family Consultation – Providing education, support, and guidance regarding a specific problem or concern in 1-5 sessions.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – Processing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and major life transitions.
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Treating anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, depression, bipolar disorder, and addiction.
  • Interventions for Individuals with Serious Mental Illness – Helping individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other psychotic disorders through a combination of:
    • Psychoeducation
    • Social Skills Training (SST)
    • Illness Self-Management
    • Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT)
    • Behavioral Family Therapy (BFT) for SMI

Additional Areas of Focus

In addition to my specialties, I also support clients navigating:

  • Assertiveness and communication skills
  • Grief and loss
  • Health and medical concerns, including chronic pain and lifestyle changes
  • Life transitions (parenthood, divorce, career changes)
  • Motivation challenges (procrastination, difficulty getting organized)
  • Parenting challenges
  • Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
  • Veterans’ readjustment

What to Expect

I believe in using scientifically supported treatments to help you achieve real, lasting change. Just as you expect your medical doctor to use the most up-to-date and effective practices, mental health professionals should be held to the same standard.

While long-term therapy is available, many of the treatments I provide are short-term and problem-focused. We’ll start with a comprehensive assessment to identify your goals, challenges, and treatment preferences. I will make treatment recommendations, and together, we will decide on a treatment plan. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I value your voice in every step of the journey.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I offer a complimentary consultation to explore how we can work together. Contact me to get started.
